Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds extra lean ground beef
1/2 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 green pepper, diced
1 cup water
3/4 cup ketchup
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons salt, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup water
cayenne pepper to taste (optional)

Direction

In a big skillet, put in the onion and ground beef. Set the heat
setting to medium heat and let the mixture cook for about 10
minutes while continuously stirring it until the ground beef turned
brown in color and are formed into small crumbles.

Add in the green bell pepper and the garlic and mix everything
together; let the mixture cook for 2-3 minutes while stirring it
until it becomes soft. Pour in 1 cup of water and give it a mix,
scrape any browned flavor bits off the bottom of the skillet and
let it dissolve in the mixture.

Add in the brown sugar, black pepper, ketchup, salt,
Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard and mix well. Pour in
another 1 cup of water and allow the mixture to get back to a
simmer.

Lower the heat setting to low heat and let the mixture
simmer for about 40 minutes while stirring it from time to time
until the mixture becomes thick in consistency and the cooking
liquid has evaporated. Add in black pepper, cayenne pepper and
salt to taste.
